Supreme Court affirms Udom’s election
The Supreme Court on Wednesday night in Abuja affirmed the election of Governor Emmanuel Udom as the governor of Akwa Ibom State.
Governor Udom had appealed to the Supreme Court against the nullification of his election by the Court of Appeal.
The Akwa Ibom State Election Petition Tribunal had earlier nullified elections in 18 local governments and ordered a rerun by the Appeal court in its ruling nullified elections in all the 31 local government areas and ordered a rerun. That ruling was upturned by the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Umana Umana had taken Udom to the tribunal in the April 21, 2015 general elections.
